some hometown hiking
speaking of bands playing in shitholes…
it probably won’t happen again that an US hardcoreband like Death by stereo is playing a show and even doing some sightseeing in my (not really) world famous hometown Gerolstein. In the scene at 00:48 from this tour video they are having a look on it. Fascinating!

I really doubt that this artificial post-mining lake at the flank of a former volcano isn’t open for public to jump into it etc
it’s priviliged for the local fishing club, it has a lot more potential

heading to my hometown Gerolstein by bike
in the background you can see the huge rocks above the town which are part of a former tropic coral reef (about 300 million years ago)
I finally did my 1st cycling trip this year :)
Cycling 31km and gaining over 600m of height was a good start I think. But the weather was also interesting: sun, dark clouds, sudden rain and even hail and graupel alternating in short intervals made these three hours quite an adventure. some pictures including weather fronts
some pictures of a hike around Manderscheid - a (very) small town in southern Volcanic Eifel
including former volcanos, craters, a lot of lava rocks, maars, a tiny gorge and deep valleys
