Unfortunately I didn’t go to that many concerts that I was used too the years before… I’m living in the wrong city for good concerts - seriously, even Gerolstein had better concerts some time ago…
The best ones:
Against me! @Riez Open Air, Bausendorf
La Dispute + Title Fight @Stollwerck, Cologne
Frau Potz + Love A @Bla, Bonn
Enter Shikari @LMH, Cologne
Fjort @Aetherblissement, Cologne
Pianos become the teeth + Verse @Riez Open Air (not their fault, wrong place, wrong time)
Jupiter Jones @Gloria, Cologne
I regret the most, that I did NOT go to:
Pianos become the teeth @Underground K
Circle Takes The Square + Kylesa @Turbinenhalle OH
Norma Jean + The Chariot @Essigfabrik K
Converge + Touché amoré @Essigfabrik K
were amazing, their set was almost one and a half hour with focus on their new album A flash flood of colour.
So of course I missed some of the older songs (especially Antwerpen, Anything can happen, Solidarity), but they played some of my very favourite ones like Mothership and the intro of their first album with Enter Shikari (as 1st last song). I think many people wondered that the real last song was Sssnakepit and not Sorry, you’re not a winner - yes, they did’t play their “hit”, so no claps… but the set was incredible though and I somehow appreciate their courage not to play it because seriously: you can hear this song everywhere over and over…
And another thing: their lightshow was freaking out, that really was a flash flood of colours.
is it crazy to do a 4hour-ride to Amsterdam for a concert? Maybe, but WORTH IT!
arrived at 14:00 at Camping Zeebrug in the east of Amsterdam and threw our tent next to the waterfront - I definetely recommend this camping site
we took a tram to Dam square in the city centre where a big pillow fight took place - we didn’t have any clue what this was about..
we spent the afternoon with walking through the city centre and its canals
and in the evening finally: City & Colour concert at Melkweg - I think it’s one of the most awesome concert locations of this size I’ve been to!
after the concert we went to a nice Belgish bar with a typical very big choice of different beers :)
getting to the camping site at night was possible by nightbus. the ride took some time, but we arrived safely and so we did after another four-hour-ride back home!
