Music recommendation: Thoughts Paint The Sky

TPTS from Essen/Germany play music with a style that could be weird for many people: Screamo/Post-Hardcore with acoustic guitars. Recently they released their 2nd full length album “Nicht mal mehr wir selbst” which got quite polarising reviews. Negative critics mention mostly the voice of their singer Daniel, positive reviews mention their unique style, their song structures, post-rock influences, the song’s atmosphere.

I am personally fascinated by their new album (already mentioned it in my top10 of 2011). Daniel isn’t the best singer for clean vocals, so the singing mostly consists of sprechgesang (“rap” would be a wrong word) and loud calls. And yes, the acoustic guitars really form an own unique sound and atmosphere.

At their bandcamp-page you can listen to four songs of the album - of those I recommend “Lebewohl” as one of the softest songs and “Goldener Schnitt”!

Another release of them I really have to recommend is their 2009 EP “Hier spielt die Musik”. Five songs which vary in style and length but five of their best songs! It can be streamed in full length and for free at their bandcamp-page. Especially the last 7min-song “Da kann ich ein Lied von singen” with a long instrumental intro satisfies the claims for fans of ambitious song structures.

And another fact besides the music: they can be really proud for their album artworks!

Outside of Germany they are quite unknown and although I mentioned they got their unique style, I would recommend them to fans of:
